Leeds Childrens Physiotherapy

Welcome to Leeds Children's Physiotherapy, a specialist branch of PEAK Physiotherapy, dedicated to providing physiotherapy assessment and treatment of paediatric conditions.

Following a thorough assessment of your child, our paediatric physiotherapist will be able to offer a planned treatment programme and provide support for you and your child throughout their rehabilitation process.

We work with children from birth to 16 years of age presenting with a wide range of paediatric conditions that can affect their ability to move functionally and efficiently.

When should I consult a Paediatric Physiotherapist?

Should your child have any of the above problems or injuries, a Paediatric Physiotherapist can provide physiotherapy assessment and treatment of the associated symptoms and presentations, and liaise with other health professionals to ensure the most appropriate management for your child.

A physiotherapy 'screen' of your baby/child can help detect any developmental or musculoskeletal problems, or can simply put your mind at rest.

If your child displays any of the following symptoms and you feel worried about them, please get in touch:

Babies:

School-going/Older children:

We can arrange an assessment wherever may be most convenient, formulate a management programme in conjunction with yourselves and other health professionals if appropriate, or simply offer advice and reassurance if this is all that is required.

What conditions can we help with?

Our Paediatric Physiotherapist:

Our specialist paediatric physiotherapist is Kay Ganguly who has been working with children with complex physical needs since 2003. Kay says "I am driven by the difference I am able to bring to children's lives by making them physically and emotionally independent. I must say, this is a very rewarding profession – with every little step that a child takes, I feel proud of my profession and its' worth." For further information about Kay, click here

How can we help?

PEAK Physiotherapy offers an integrated paediatric physiotherapy service which aims to meet the needs of your child irrespective of their physical and mental capabilities. Children learn by exploring their environment so problems with movement or limited environmental stimulus could adversely affect their physical, mental and emotional wellbeing. We, as specialist physiotherapists, would be able to assess your child and offer a planned programme to support your child throughout their development.

We offer an initial assessment followed by detailed feedback to parents and carers. We can then work towards individual, tailor-made therapy sessions to address your child's needs. The therapy would focus upon normal development of your child through facilitated play and by encouraging normal movement patterns. We use a range of paediatric equipment to make learning and rehabilitation a very positive experience. We also work towards developing confidence and boosting your child's self esteem working towards total rehabilitation.

You may choose to have a one-off assessment with our specialist physiotherapist followed by a detailed discussion regarding your child's needs and home programme options. Any therapy sessions would include a home management programme and detailed guidelines so that you can continue to work at home with your child. We are able to advise on any aids, orthotic footwear (including insoles/splints) that may aid your child with normal functional movement and activities.

We can also provide assessment in school so can address any difficulties your child may be facing within that environment. This would include advice, liaison with teaching staff and special educational need co-ordinators, and school therapy intervention. We do provide statements for special educational needs, detailed physiotherapy reports, annual review reports, and can attend your child's annual reviews upon request. Therapy sessions could be offered at one of our clinics, at home, or in school (by arrangement).
